Happy Pi Day!

Today is Pi Day or π Day. I decided to celebrate by making a delicious apple pie! This past summer I made a pie for the very first time in my life. I was instantly addicted!

To make this pie, I used Grandma Ople's Apple Pie recipe. I've made this 3 or 4 times now and it is an absolute hit!

I have used the same pie crust recipe for every pie I have ever made. It is simple to make and it turns out flaky and delicious every time! Here is the recipe I use. Feel free to double, half or triple this recipe. Just remember the ratio: 1/2/4 for water/shortening/flour.

Lastly, I want to share a couple of links for some ultimate pie inspiration! Carrie over at One Canoe Two has just completed making 52 different pies in one year as part of her Everyone Loves Pie series. So many great recipes, but also some great photos of each pie. I love the colourful pie plates and printed tablecloth combinations with each pie pic.

If you're looking for another slice of pie inspiration, you should follow Michael from Inspired by Charm. He has just started A Year of Pie on his blog and it all looks so incredible!

My mouth is watering just writing this post! What is your favourite pie recipe?
