Got an extra ceramic tile left over from a reno project? You can make your own trivet, or hot mat, or whatever you prefer to call it. And no, this does not require going to a fancy pottery painting place, or a purchasing fancy kiln!
What You'll Need:
-1 ceramic or porcelain tile
-ceramic/porcelain paint -I used Pebeo Porcelaine 150
-paint brush
-washi tape
-oven (just the regular kind!)
Start with a clean tile and apply strips of tape in every direction. The only rule to applying the tape is that there are no rules!
Next, using your paint and paintbrush, fill in the areas between the tape.
Let the paint dry for a full 24 hours, remove the tape, and bake your tile in the oven for 35 minutes at 300 degrees (or follow the manufacturer's baking instructions).
To create a scratch-free trivet, you can hot glue a piece of felt to the bottom of your tile.
