Braided Ribbon Bangle DIY

This is my second of three bracelet wrapping tutorials this week. On Monday I showed you how to lace-wrap a bangle. Today I am showing you how to wrap bangles with ribbon using a braiding technique.

What You'll Need:
-2-3 feet of 1/4 inch wide ribbon
-3 bangles
-E6000 glue
-scissors
-2 spacers (popsicle sticks or sticks made from thin cardboard)
-2 clothespins or small clamps

First, layer your spacers between your bangles and hold them in place with your clothespins. It may seem silly, but it will make weaving your ribbon between the bangles a lot easier.

Holding your bangles vertically, bring one end of your ribbon up between the first and second bangle. Tuck it underneath the first bangle and glue it in place.

Now bring your ribbon up on the far right side and insert it between the first and second bangles.

Then bring the ribbon up on the far left side of the bangles and then down between the second and third bangles.

Now slide or 'scrunch' the ribbon you've already braided upwards, leaving as much of the bangles showing as you'd like. I chose to leave small openings so that there is a little 'sparkle' showing through the ribbon.

Continue braiding and scrunching.

When you get half way around, your spacers will be in the way. If you're feeling confident that things will say in place, then you can remove them. Or if you enjoy the security blanket feeling of it (I did!), you can just slide it over a bit.

When you get to the end. Trim off any excess ribbon and glue the end to the inside of your bangle, overlapping the other end of the ribbon you glued down at the beginning.

The cool/weird thing about this bracelet is that if you look on the inside, the middle bangle isn't actually attached. But yet it won't come loose. Technically, you could complete this project using only 2 bangles, but I liked the width that was created with the third bangle.
